Four friends, Jean, Smith, Garcien, and Phalange reconnected following the 2021 Haitian Earthquake that affected their hometown. The school they all met in was unfortunately destroyed, and the group met to discuss how they could help their beloved school and community. The team reflected on all the people who were able to help them financially when they were at their lowest and helped them achieve their goals of becoming successful, educated professional. With the help of Pascale, their newest member, the group of five decided that the best thing they can do is to pay it forward and give financially to gifted, intelligent students who don’t have the resources to continue their education.
Students apply to FAEH and undergo an interview process with the members to share their stories and future aspirations.
FAEH assesses the student's goals and potential to determine if the organization can provide the necessary support.
The team deliberates and decides if they have the resources to
assist the applicant.
Upon approval, FAEH collaborates with accredited universities to directly pay the tuition fees.
Students receive stipends for essential school materials, ranging from laptops to course-specific items like scrub uniforms.
FAEH continues to fund students through their studies, provided they maintain a passing academic status each semester.
The annual tuition averages at about 70,000 HTG, payable with just $532 USD. The exchange rate from USD to the Haitian Gourde is upwards of 133%, making every dollar extremely valuable.
Haiti's education system is modeled after the French system, with public schools teaching in French and Haitian Creole, while Catholic private schools use French exclusively.
FAEH is actively seeking partners to expand its network and share its mission with a broader audience. Please inquire via email about this opportunity and way to spotlight your involvement.
Despite the challenges of living in a war-torn country, Haitians highly value education. However, the unstable economy makes it difficult for families to afford schooling. Many students attend schools in major cities like Port-au-Prince and Les Cayes, which are known for their educational institutions and bustling ports.
